SHIFTER

Position Summary
Shifters oversee and direct the operation of the entire project in collaboration with the Project Manager – specifically overseeing, directing and managing the performance of all workers and subcontractors to ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget. Shifters communicate extensively with the Project Manager to define project needs and oversee project performance.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate tasks according to priorities, plans and schedule
  • Supervise all workers, subcontractors and the use of all equipment
  • Proactively plan, coordinate and communicate construction processes
  • Lead, support and implement safety, environmental and quality guidelines
  • Supervise, manage, monitor, train, coach and mentor workers performance
  • Ensure the job site remains safe, clean, and orderly
  • Check all worker competencies and train as required
  • Analyze, manage, resolve and mitigate risks, on‐site issues and emergencies
  • Assist in the preparation of reports pertaining to project status and progress
  • Lead and participate in Tailgates, ToolBox Talks, and project related meetings
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
  • Collaborate with managers, engineers, subcontractors, etc. to determine project needs
  • Establish and communicate worker and subcontractor tasks, performance goals and deadlines
  • Meet all contractual conditions of performance
  • Oversee all construction in compliance with specifications, safety and environmental regulations
  • Timely identification and capture of scope changes via written change orders and schedule impact
  • Daily in‐depth look ahead of project deliverables to mitigate problems and resolve any emerging ones

Requirements:

  • Ability to complete mandatory internet‐based Orientation and Indoctrination training and certification
  • Class 5 Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and ability to provide a clean Drivers Abstract
  • Mine Supervisor Certification, Level 1 OFA Industry Standard First Aid Ticket, preference to holding a valid Shiftboss Certification, expertise and knowledge of BC Mines Act and Regulations, and knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards
  • Demonstrated 5+ years construction management experience and comprehensive understanding of all facets of the construction process
  • Knowledge of materials, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
  • Advanced working and operating knowledge of heavy‐duty civil construction equipment
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management, means, methods and procedures
  • Excellent leadership, human resource management, organizational and planning skills
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, good physical condition, stamina, and handling up to 50lbs
  • Strict attention and compliance with equipment cleanliness, maintenance and completing logs

Location: The Elk Gold Project is located approximately 57 km from Merritt, BC. and controlled by Gold Mountain Mining Corp., a BC based exploration and development company.

This is not a camp position, employees provide their own transportation to/from the job site.
