We are currently seeking a dedicated Mechanic to join our team who will contribute to overall success of the Mine Site by ensuring that machinery, equipment, and systems are properly maintained and operate efficiently.

Job Summary: The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and systems. This role includes ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and maintaining efficient operations.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

 

Maintenance and Repairs:

  1. Plan and execute maintenance and repair schedules for mechanical equipment, machinery, and systems
  2. Diagnose equipment issues, troubleshoot problems, and make necessary repairs
  3. Oversee preventive maintenance procedures to minimize downtime and prolong equipment life

 

Fleet Management:

  1. Manage a preventative maintenance program to ensure the fleet’s reliability and minimize downtime.
  2. Coordinate vehicle inspections, repairs and servicing with internal mechanics or external service providers
  3. Ensure vehicles comply with safety and environmental regulations

 

Asset Tracking and Inventory Management:

  1. Maintain an accurate inventory of all fleet assets, including vehicles and equipment, parts and labour
  2. Optimize asset allocation to minimize downtime and maximize utilization

 

Health, Safety and Environment:

  1. Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  2. Ensure compliance with local, provincial and federal regulations governing vehicle operations, safety and emissions
  3. Promote a culture of safety and adherence to safety protocols among the maintenance team
  4. Keep records of safety related items including training and incidents

 

Quality Assurance:

  1. Maintain and enforce quality control and assurance procedures for maintenance activities
  2. Monitor the performance of equipment to ensure it meets established quality standards
  3. Implement continuous improvement measures to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency

 

Inventory and Parts Management:

  1. Manage parts inventory and ensure that necessary parts and materials are available for maintenance and repairs
  2. Monitor and order replacement parts and supplies as needed
  3. Optimize inventory levels to minimize downtime and costs

 

Documentation and Reporting:

  1. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and repairs
  2. Generate reports on equipment performance, maintenance schedules, and budget utilization
  3. Communicate maintenance status and issues to management
  4. Review and utilize reports on fleet performance, maintenance records and cost analysis
  5. Utilize data analytics to identify trends, improvement areas and cost saving opportunities
  6. Present findings and recommendations to management

 

Budget and Resource Management:

  1. Assist in the development and management of the maintenance budget
  2. Optimize resource allocation to achieve cost-effective maintenance operations
  3. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
  4. Work collaboratively with the fleet budget, including fuel expenses, maintenance costs and capital expenditures
  5. Work actively to identify areas for cost reduction and operational efficiencies and improvements

 

Knowledge & Attributes:

  1. Heavy Duty Mechanic – Red Seal
  2. Several years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair on hard-rock mine equipment, with a proven track record of leadership and supervisory roles
  3. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment
  4. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  5. Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills

 

Working Conditions:

  1. Work onsite with exposure to outdoor conditions / harsh environments
  2. May require flexibility in working hours to accommodate site needs or emergencies

This position is based out of the Elk Gold project off Hwy 97C, 57KM outside of Merritt BC.
